ABSTRACT

The physico-chemical characteristics of Maasim Dam was assessed using the following parameters: water temperature, water pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphates, total settleable solids, total filterable solids, total dissolved solids, and total suspended solids. Results showed that the temperature ranged from 21.67 degree celcius to 29.33 degree celcius, pH ranged from 7.19 to 8.54, dissolved oxygen from 4.30 mg/L to 5.90 mg/L, phosphates form 0.01 to 0.18, settleable solids from 2.50 mg/L to 8.42 mg/L, dissolved solids from 2.56 mg/L to 8.33 mg/L, filterable solids from 0.15mg/L to 0.90 mg/L, and total suspended solids from 3.09 mg/L to 9.03 mg/L.

Results also showed that the water quality of Maasin Dam had passed the water quality standard set by DENR for Class A waters.
