ABSTRACT

Alkaloids, a nitrogen-containing natural product of plants, are compounds which are highly regarded or its medicinal potential. Using two reagents, namely Mayer’s and Dragendorff’s reagents, some local plants of Phillipines Science High School Western Visayas Campus underwent the Culvenor Fitzgerald method of alkaloid testing.

Test revealed that 62.50 percent of the local plants tested positive in Mayer’s reagent while 68.75 percent tested positive in Dragendorff’s reagent.
