ABSTRACT
Crude extracts of seaweeds species Gracilaria sp., Graciliara verrucosa, Gracilaria coronopifolia, Eucheuma striatum, aaaaEuchema sp., Acanthopora spicifera and Caulerpa lentillifera, in three replicates, were analyzed for their iodine value by titration, using standard sodium thiosulfate as the titer ( the one with the known strength and or concentration). One-Way Analysis of Variance ( One way ANOVA) at 95% level of confidence (a 0.05) showed that the iodine value of the eight randomly selected species of seaweed found in the Visayas differ significantly. Gracillaria sp. yields the highest iodine value of theeight seaweed species used in this study while Eucheuma Striatum has the lowest iodine value among the eight edible species of seaweed.
The iodene value of the eight edible species o seaweed used in this research decreases in the following order.
