ABSTRACT
The water purifying properties of talisay nut extracts were tested. The water samples taken from PSHS-WV campus were tested for the following parameters: Calcium, Magnesium and Iron concentration, Total Filterable Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, pH level and Heterotrophic Bacterial Count before and after passing through the water purifier.
Calcium concentration for BRH remains at 56 ppm and at 50 ppm for GRH, COOP and ACADEMIC: Magnesium concentration for BRH increased from 1.9476 ppm to 2.1288 ppm, 1.7520 ppm to 2.0420 ppm for GRH, 1.9356 ppm 2.4672 ppm for COOP and 1.8514 ppm to 1.8808 ppm for ACADEMIC; and Iron concentration in the water samples was not detected.
The values for Total Filterable Solids in g/100ml decreased from 0.1 to 0.02 for BRH, 0.1 to 0.01 for GRH. 0.3 to 0.01 for COOP and 0.2 to 0.02 for ACADEMIC. The values for Total Dissolved Solids in g/20ml decreased also from 1.8 to 0.02 for BRH, 1.8 to 0.01 for GRH,1.7 to 0.02 for COOP and 1.7 to 0.02 for ACADEMIC.
The heterotrophic bacterial count in no. of colonies/10ml increased from 40 to 48 for BRH, 47 to 52 for GRH, 45 to 50 for COOP and 43 to 50 for ACADEMIC.
The pH level in increased from 7.05 to 7.24 for BRH, 7.04 to 7.50 for GRH, 7.03 to 7.55 for COOP and 7.05 to 7.59 for ACADEMIC.
