ABSTRACT
The study aimed to determine the water quality (biologically) of the different water sources in Brgy. Calumpang Molo, Iloilo City. It tested the coliform presence in the study area. It was hypothesized that there is no significant difference in the Most Probable Number values of water between deep well and water pump sources. The MPN values were determined using the Multiple Tube Fermentation Technique. Water samples were collected from 5 deep well and 5 water pump sources. The mean and t-test, set at 0.05 alpha level of significance, were used as statistical tools.
The water from different sources in Brgy. Calumpang was proven to be unsafe for drinking. It was because the mean MPN values exceeded the maximum tolerable level of MPN of coliform bacteria. Out of 10 sources, only 2 were considered having safe water since the MPN values were below the maximum tolerable level.
