ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine if the electrical loads in a miniature light and security system can be controlled by a Short Messaging Service through a cellular phone. It will also determine if the cellular phone-controlled light and security system could be programmed to operate electrical loads all at the same time. It also determined if the light and security system, and if it can be secured with a security system. The whole process of constructing the model of the cellular phone-controlled light and security systems involved the gathering of materials and equipment, design and assembly of the five-volt and twelve-volt power source, design and assembly of the control unit, developing the program, design and construction of the cellular phone-controlled light and security system, and capabilities testing.

The cellular phone-controlled light and security system controlled the operation of the electrical loads in the model house through an SMS message. It was also able to transmit to the owner an SMS message for information on checking of the operations of such electrical loads. Furthermore, it was able to protect the model house in terms of its security from intrusion with a cellular phone-controlled security system.
