ABSTRACT

The researcher formulated a mixture of Fishmeal, Coprameal, Corn Grit and Rice Bran. The main objective of the study was to determine the effects of the formulated feed mixture on the growth perfomance of broilers when sed as feed supplement in Cobb broiler ration.

Two phases of studies were conducted using 40 day-old chicks in first phase and 20 day-old chicks in the second phase. In the first phase, chicks were put in 4 cages with 10 chicks in every cage, while in the second phase, chicks were cage individually.

Findings of the study revealed that chickens fed with 70% CSM and 30% feed mix had the highest weekly consumption compared to other groups. Weekly feed consumed increased as the chicken grow. This group has the heaviest body weights. Body weights and individual weights gained were not uniform in every fed ration. FCR of chickens fed with 100% CSM was slightly better compared to other group. No significant differences existed in the weekly weights gained and weekly FCR between the two groups of Cobb broiler.

The researcher recommended that close supervision should done on the physical condition of chicken; cleanliness and sanitation in the environment should be observed; chicken should be dispose at the age of 42 days or earlier; both the 100% CSM and 70% CSM and 30% feed mix could be used as feed ration; but for hustle free in the preparation of feed mix, it is wiser to use 100% CSM poultry raising; further studies could be conducted using the same feed ration with a larger population.
