ABSTRACT

This study aims to develop a door locking system that can be operated both manually and remotely combining the capabilities of an Arduino microcontroller with the availability of GSM technology that is suitable for long range wireless communication. An Arduino ATMega328 was used. The servo motor was connected to the motor shield. The motor shield was then mounted to the Arduino board. The SIM card and 3V battery was inserted to the GSM shield, and was also mounted to the to the Arduino and motor shield. The system was programmed to control a servo motor via text command from a mobile phone. A GSM module was integrated to the Arduino to enable the use of text messaging for communication. A motor shield was also used for an easier control of the servo motor. Instead of an expensive electronic lock, a mechanical single cylinder deadbolt lock was used.
