ABSTRACT

The researcher tested the different concentration of crude oil to the growth of chlorophyll content of Gracilaria sp. Under laboratory conditions, thalli of Gracilaria sp. Were subjected to different concentration of crude oil, namely ; Conc A, 1.25% crude oil; and Conc C, 5% crude oil.

Results of the study showed that the control set-up ( w/o crude oil ), had the greatest growth increase and chlorophyll content. It was found out that the greater the crude oil concentration, the lesser the growth increase and chlorophyll content. The growth and the chlorophyll content can be summarized in thi relation: Contral > Conc A > Conc B > Conc C >. It was also found out that  the greater the crude oil concentration, the higher the temperature and the pH is decreasing, meaning  more acidic. the temperature and acidity can be expressed in this relation: Contral > Conc A > Conc B > Conc C >.
