ABSTRACT

The antimicrobial effects of alkaloid-containing plant extracts were tested on two species of pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus using the Filter Paper Disc-Agar Plate Method. The results showed that all the plant extracts possess antimicrobial properties on the two types of test organisms, as shown by the diameter zones of inhibition after twenty-four hours.

By utilizing the One-way ANOVA, it was known that there is a significant difference among the levels of antimicrobial activity of the different extracts.
