ABSTRACT
This research paper entitled ” A TAXONOMIC STUDY OF ANGIOSPERMAE IN BARANGAY TIOLAS, SAN JOAQUIN ” aims to collect, preserve, identify and classify the collected specimens of different species of angiospermae found in Brgy. Tiolas, San Joaquin, Iloilo according to their taxonomic characteristics since there is a diverse composition of flowering plants in this barangay.
The specimens collected were cleaned and pruned and treated with a solution composed of 2L denatured alcohol, 250mL formaldehyde, 250mL glycerine and 1L distilled water to prevent deterioration and then pressed using the plant presser and then mounted.
Of the 70 plants collected 80% of the plants had been identified. Of these plants identified, most of them come from the family Poaceae comprising 13 percent of plants collected, followed by the Asteraceae family, Fabaceae family, and Moraceae family comprising 7 percent each and by the Euphorbiaceae family, Annonaceae family, Anacardiaceae family comprising 5 percent each.
