ABSTRACT

This research study entitled “The Soil Fertility Status of the Province of Aklan” was conducted to determine qualitatively the mean Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium composition of soils in Aklan. Quantitative Determination of the soil pH was also the main objective of this study.

This research study adheres to the standards method in gathering soil samples set by the Department of Agriculture. Five representative soil sampling areas was randomly selected from each municipality. Each sample was subjected to potassium test, nitrogen test, phosphorus test and soil pH determination with three replicates for each test. The method used in conducting such tests was based on the soil testkit procedure of the Department of Agriculture.

The results showed that the mean Nitrogen composition is sufficient. The men Soil pH is between 5.8 to 6.4, which shows that Aklan soil to some degree is acidic and requires application of lime.

Based on the data gathered it is conclusive to state that Aklan soil is appropriate for agricultural use. In that its fertility suits the needs of crops like rice, corn, sugarcane and cassava. However, this research study is recommended for further analysis, for soil fertility and soil compositions vary over time, and that the results of this research study are applicable only for this present time.
