ABSTRACT
This study was conducted with the primary objctive of analyzing the water quality of Iloilo Strait in terms of pH, salinity, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, temperature and filterable solids.
Data were obtained directly in the study area using portable equipment, expect for filterable solids. Microorganisms were likewise gathered and identified.
The water isbasic, with pH values between 6.67 to 8.73. Temperature readings range from 27.8 degrees Celsius to 29.7 degrees Celsius. Results showed that not any of the 3 sampling station’ DO reached the standards of 5 ppm for class SC water. Conductivity values ranged from 40.65ohms to 53.6ohms. Percent filterable solids was highest in the third station, the area where squatters reside.
As concluded, the Iloilo Strait did not meet the DENR standards for Dissolved Oxygen.
On the basis of the findings, it is recommended the study area be studied further to confirm if the Iloilo Strait is indeed polluted.
