ABSTRACT
This study was conducted with the primary objectives of analyzing the water quality of Hurom-Hurom Cold Spring in Nabas, Aklan using the following parameters: pH,temperature, dissolve oxygen content, amount of solids, hardness, and density of heterotrophic bacteria. Datas were obtained directly in the study area using portable equipment except for hardness of water, density of heterotrophic bacteria and amount of solids.
The results showed that water temperature ranged from 23.40 degrees Celsius to 24.50 degrees Celsius, pH level ranged from 8.58 to 12.28ppm, suspended solids ranged from 666.67mg/L to 1000mg/L, the dissolved solids ranged from 1200mg/L to 1866.67mg/L and the sum of the two as the total amount of solids is from 1866.67mg/L to 2866.67mg/L. The water hardness ranged from 2.72mg/CaCO3 to 621.22mg/CaCO3. Lastly, the density of the heterotrophic bacteria which gave a results of too many to count bacterial colonies for all the sampling sites.
As concluded, the Hurom-Hurom Cold Spring passed DENR water quality standards for standards for class B but did not qualify to classes AA and A.
Based on the findings, it is recommended that the study area be studied further to confirm if the bacteria gathered are harmless of not.
