ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the effect of lansones peelings as mosquito repellant in coil form. To test for its effectivity, the effect of the produced mosquito coil on the test organisms was compared with the effects of commercial coil and control coil. Three trials were performed involving three different lansones peeling proportions of the coil. The results of the test were recorded on a table using the Statistic Group Comparison and subjected to One-Way Analysis of Variance, set alpha level 0.05 for the significance of difference. The study hypothesized that there is no significant difference in the effectivity of mosquito coil from lansones peelings compared with commercial coil.

Results showed that lansones proved to be a good mosquito repelllant for there was no significant difference as to their potential compared with the commercial coil. The volatile oil plus its lansium acid constituted for its effectivity as a repellant.
