ABSTRACT
The study aimed to discover the effectiveness pf aqueous alkaline extracts from green seaweeds as foliar sprays on the growth of the crops, Oryza sativa and Phaseolus radiatus, in terms of the change in height. Using one-group pretest pro-test, the researchers made use of a control and an experimental set-up, into which the effectiveness of the extracts will be compared. The aqueous alkaline extracts were applied to the crops after the first week of growth. The height of the crops were observed every three days for four times. Results showed that the effectiveness of aqueous alkaline extracts from green seaweeds made a significant difference on the growth of the crops, Oryza sativa and Phaseolus radiatus, in terms of height. Oryza sativa in the control plot exhibited an average height of 21.76 cm, while for the experimental plot an average height of 26.88 cm. For Phaseolus radiatus, it exhibited an average height of 16.06 cm for the control plot and an average height of 16.58 cm for the experimental plot.
