ABSTRACT
This study tested the possibility of ampalaya, bayabas, malunggay, alagaw, mayana, kanya pistula and eucalyptus for their antimicrobial activity on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Bacillua subtilis.
Leaf extracts were extracted by adding water to a 1:2 proportion. The extracts were tested for their antimicrobial property using the Bauer-Kirby Method. One-way Analysis of Variance was used to test if there is a significant difference in the bactericidal property of the leaf extracts.
Results showed that ampalaya, bayabas, malunggay, alagaw, mayana, kanya pistula and eucalyptus posses antimicrobial activity on the test organisms.
There is no significant difference on the zones of inhibition of the different plant extracts as antimicrobial agents on Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
