ABSTRACT

This One-spot case study in a Completely Randomized Design determined the feasibility of carabao grass Axonopus compressus in papermaking. The papers were prepared in three different mixtures, i.e 35%-65%, 50%-50% and 65%-35% carabao grass Axonopus compressus fibers and old newspapers. Each treatment was composed of 500kg pulp, 12g of starch and 20g of powdered alum. The process involved pulping, sheet forming, bleaching and testing. The feasibility was determined through the samples’ breaking strenght, water resistance and market acceptability. The mean, the standard deviation and the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used as statistical tools.
