ABSTRACT
Weight is really a heavy subject. With its reputation of being the main cause of many coronary disease and its unpretty sight in today’s beauty/health conscious society, there’s always clamor for it to lessen. Many diets, exercise and surgical procedures were developed to combat this menace. Traditional medicine won’t be left behind the times and so developed its own wonder drug pito-pito claimed that it could reduce weight and therefore aid in slimming the body, achieving both health and aesthetic importance.
The experiment was done to prove if the claim was really true. Eight guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) were procured. Pito-pito was bought in tea form from sidewalk vendors. The guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) were weighed the fed 30% of their combined weight twice everyday. Each guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) was forced-fed .8 mL of the prepared Pito-pito tea night for a week. After a week of this diet, the guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) were weighed again to determine any changes in their weight.
The results were computed using t-test for independent variables to see if there is a significant difference in weight changes.
