ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine the potency of cottonseed extract as a spermicide. It generally aimed to determined anu significant difference in the end count of sperm in different concentrations of cottonseed extracts and determined any morphology or abnormality to the sperm. Specifically it determined ang changes on the sperm’s shape and body size in reference to the control. It further determined the end count and morphology of sperm after being treated with 15%, 10%, 5% concentration of cottonseed extract and 0% as the control.
Results showed that cottonseed extracts has reduced the end count of sperm after being exposed to different concentrations of cottonseed extracts in two minutes. Results further showed that there is a significant difference in the end count of sperm in varying concentrations of gossypol under the 0.05 ANOVA significant difference test. The 15% concentration has reduced the sperm count below the normal value of the sperm count. Also it further showed that different concentrations did not affect and no sign of morphology effect on the sperm, cottonseed extract is a potent spermicide.
