ABSTRACT

The antifungal effects of different concentrations of crude extracts from leaves of Moringa pterygosperma (Malunggay) and Psidium guajava (Guava) were tested on the fungi Ceratocystis paradoxa using potato-dextrose agar as the culture medium. Results were compared to two other setups, one with water (control), and the other one with Benlate, a commercial fungicide.

Results showed that 100% guava extract proved to be the most effective in suppressing the growth of the test organism. Benlate then follows it, the 501 quava extract, and then 100% malunggay extract. The setup with 50% malunggay proved to be ineffective, allowing almost the Same fungal growth (control).
